TUESDAY, Mar. 9
AUTO BREAK-IN — During the day someone broke into a teacher's car that was parked at Ocean View School on the 1000 block of Jackson Street by smashing the window. There were no witnesses.
THEFT — Someone stole the rear license plate off a car parked on Pierce Street. There were no witnesses.
WEDNESDAY, Mar. 10
VIOLATION — At about 3:30 p.m. officers contacted two men who were going through garbage in the area of Stannage and Washington avenues and warned them that their activity was a violation.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE — At about 5 p.m. officers responded to a residence on Evelyn Avenue on reports of hearing a loud bang noise then a woman screaming and yelling to call 911. They transported a 54-year-old Albany man to Kaiser Medical Center Richmond by ambulance. He was later arrested at the hospital for suspicion of domestic violence and making threats. He was later transported to North County Jail.
THURSDAY, Mar 11
ASSAULT — At about 7:45 a.m. officers responded to Albany Preschool on the 800 block of Masonic
Avenue on reports that a female employee had been attacked and injured by an assailant who was hiding in the school's bathroom when she arrived early to the school. The attacker is described as a white male adult, 30-40 years old, about 6 feet tall, with black or brown hair, a full beard and mustache and wearing Ray Ban type sunglasses. He was wearing a black and blue checkered and zippered hoodie with a three-inch square pattern. He reportedly sprayed a cleaning spray in her face, struck her and kicked
her, then stabbed her multiple times with a sharp, short bladed weapon, possibly a box cutter. He was gone when officers arrived. Officers are investigating.
SCAM WARNING — During the afternoon officers received several calls from residents on Ordway and Neilson streets reporting a suspicious call from someone saying they were from PG&E and wanting to come to the home to do the paperwork for a tax refund. They indicated needing to see their tax return and also needing a signature. When contacted, PG&E said they did not have a program like this.
DUI — At about 11:30 p.m. officers arrested a 25- year-old Pittsburg woman on San Pablo Avenue near Gilman Street for suspicion of two counts of DUI.
FRIDAY, Mar. 12
DUI — At about 3 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle on San Pablo Avenue near Page Street for a vehicle code violation. They arrested the driver, a 29-year-old Berkeley woman, on suspicion of two counts of DUI.
THEFT — At about noon a member of the Berkeley Fire Department reported observing a person d escribed as a black male adult, 28-29 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing a black hat, black pullover and black pants, take a bottle of tequila off
the shelf andleave without paying. Officers located the suspect, a 26-year-old San Leandro man, for suspicion of theft.
BREAK-IN — Someone broke into a residence on Thousand Oaks Boulevard through the garage and stole items from inside. There were no witnesses.
WARRANT — Officers arrested a 27-year-old Oakland man near Masonic Avenue and Garfield Street for an outstanding warrant shortly before midnight.
DRUGS — Officers arrested a 19-year-old transient woman on the 700 block of Masonic Avenue for suspicion of drug possession.
SATURDAY, Mar. 13
DUI — A few minutes after midnight officers arrested a 26-year-old Oakland man on the 1100 block of Solano Avenue for suspicion of two counts of DUI.
DUI — At about 2 a.m. officers arrested a 29-year- old Richmond woman near San Pablo Avenue and Buchanan Street for suspicion of DUI and reckless driving.
FIRE — Albany firefighters responded to the area of Masonic and Brighton avenues at about 3:30 p.m. on reports of a trashcan fire.
THEFT — At about 11 p.m. an employee at Albany Bowl on the 500 block of San Pablo Avenue reported that a group of adults and teens were told to leave the bar because they could not serve teenagers. When the group left they stole some of the bar glasses. They were gone when officers arrived.
SUNDAY, Mar. 14
n DUI — Officers stopped a vehicle on the Buchanan Street interchange at about 3 a.m. for a vehicle code violation. They arrested the driver, a 26-year-old Oakland man, for suspicion of two counts of DUI.
AUTO BREAK-IN — During the night thieves broke into a car parked on Stannage Avenue and stole the stereo from inside. There were no witnesses.
WARRANT — At about 8 p.m. officers arrested a 32- year-old El Sobrante man on the 500 block of San Pablo Avenue for an outstanding warrant.
MONDAY, Mar. 15
THEFT — A few minutes after midnight, a couple entered Café Raj on Solano Avenue and asked for food. When they were told that the restaurant was closed, they said the woman was pregnant and asked if she could the bathroom. When the employee stepped away, they took money from the cash register and departed. They were gone when officers arrived.
ASSAULT — Officers responded to Memorial Park on Portland Avenue at about 1 p.m. on reports from Public Works that a person was walking near the construction area with something that looked like a gun, but was later found to be a pipe. Officers arrested the 18-year-old Richmond man for suspicion of assault. A victim was found and transported to Kaiser Richmond.
